Yale Chicago is dedicated to the promotion of the welfare of Yale University, the preservation of its traditions of excellence in education and service, and the advancement of its stature in the Chicago area. Yale Chicago also seeks to connect Yale graduates, Yale students, and their parents in the greater Chicago metropolitan area with each other and the University.

Your membership supports Yale Chicago's wide range of activities:

  • Recruiting and interviewing prospective Yale students.
  • Raising scholarship funds for Chicago-area Yale students.
  • Organizing volunteer service opportunities like assistance for new immigrant families and tutoring Chicago public school students.
  • Sponsoring summer community service fellowships in Chicago for Yale undergraduates.
  • Sponsoring educational, social and networking events.
  • Connecting alumni to our local Shared Interest Group ("SIG") communities.

Operating on the public radio model, our events are open to all Yalies and their guests, so we depend on your voluntary membership dues to fund our work. Please join today to support these important activities. And be sure to participate in our events and community service offerings throughout the year.

Founded in 1969, the same year that Yale first admitted undergraduate women, The New Blue is not only the oldest female a cappella group at Yale, but was also the very first women’s organization on campus!

Today, the New Blue is committed to maintaining a dynamic repertoire that encompasses a wide variety of styles and is arranged exclusively by members. Over the last few years, the group has produced seven CDs. The 30th Anniversary CD, Can't Stop, was the recipient of the Contemporary A Cappella Society's award for Best Female Collegiate Album. The New Blue has toured all over the world and U.S., in the past few years delighting audiences from Ireland to Greece and Turkey, from Texas to Florida, and has sung for former president George Bush as well as current president Barack Obama during his years as a senator.

Register here.

Community Service Opportunities

Given the current world turmoil, refugee admittances have been slowed but we remain on RefugeeOne's wait list of co-sponsors. Our furniture and funds are at the ready and as soon as we are assigned a family, volunteers will be notified and informed of the timing of the work and the tasks needing attention. (It is likely that we will undertake this project after the holidays.) We hope that your schedule can accommodate these changes, but if there are conflicts, we understand. Be well, celebrate your freedom and stability and we will be in touch soon! -- Robbin

For more information about the Refugee Project, visit the project webpage, or email Robbin Schoewe, the project coordinator, at [email protected]
