THE GIFT OF ART
Sculpture Ventures for Young Artists

Participate in a unique The Gift of Art training workshop to learn how to teach elementary students
to exercise creativity through learning sculpture processes.

The Gift of Art

The Gift of Art, Sculpture Ventures for Young Artists, is a book detailing a series of workshops to teach second grade through high school and college to experience making sculptural objects with additive, subtractive and constructive processes. A collaborative performance is video taped with student sculptures interacting in a performance for students to learn the time arts. The intent of the workshops is to exercise creativity while introducing processes for making sculpture.

The visual artist’s gift is the ability to see the tree within the seed, the spine within the blade of grass and the whisper in the willow.

Detailed steps are described to inspire other artists to share their skills with others, or to follow the processes explained for a classroom of twenty-five or one-hundred and seventy. I am hopeful that the The Gift of Art will inspire young artists to forge their own paths in making art. For more information, please visit margotmcmahon.com.

Please come to a The Gift of Art training workshop in your neighborhood to learn how to teach elementary students how to exercise creativity through learning sculpture processes. We’ll also think about possibilities for Yale Alumni to offer The Gift of Art for Yale Day of Service on May 7th. Two hour adult workshops will teach Yale Alumni the skills to share art with elementary students. Bring a student if you’d like. Maximum workshop size is 25 adults. You can see a Youtube video of a The Gift of Art, Sculpture Ventures for Young Artists workshop at: https://youtu.be/q0qhIj5qnZU

$5.00 will be charged for each adult to cover the cost of materials. Please bring your recyclables that are spheres (lightweight ping-pong or whiffle balls) , cubes (rectangular tea boxes, cube-shaped boxes) or cones
